This Global Handwashing Day is all about hand hygiene for all, and with COVID-19 impacting every community and country across the globe in different, challenging and ongoing ways, it is more important than ever to mark this day and prioritise proper handwashing in all that we do.
Global Hand Washing Day Poster Water and Literacy As part of a larger USAID project to encourage literacy in the southeast African country of Malawi, Project WET created four posters to help Malawian children learn to read the Chichewa and English alphabet, find out where their water comes from and care for their books.
With this year’s theme of Raise a Hand for Hygiene, Volunteers will acknowledge this important day by teaching classroom lessons, singing songs and doing crafts with children and building simple handwashing stations out of local materials with their communities. We are particularly excited about Global Handwashing Day this year as it is a chance to spotlight the new Global Goals.

This year, in honor of Global Hand Washing Day, 48 Project Sunshine Kenya volunteers reached 5,117 children and family members by setting up hand washing workshops at 19 schools throughout Mombasa, Kenya and ran hand washing clinics at Bomu Hospital as well. Project Location: The project is located in the Ve Traditional Area in the Hohoe Municipal Assembly of the Volta Region, Ghana. The project is 15 miles from Hohoe town along the main road from Hohoe to Ho. The area is an agricultural, fertile flatland below the ranges of Volta Region. Hohoe covers an area of 117,200 hectares.
