With the partial opening of schools in Malawi on 7th September 2020, United Purpose (UP), with funding from UNICEF and in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, started conducting handwashing demonstrations at primary schools.
About 15 million Malawians still do not have a specific place for hand washing with soap and water. UNICEF Malawi therefore focuses on nurturing good hygiene practices such as hand washing with soap. Provision of safe water UNICEF Malawi supports the provision of safe water to vulnerable communities and institutions

Access to basic facilities for menstrual hygiene management is critically important for women’s health, safety and dignity and can be monitored in institutional settings including schools and health facilities.
